Prohibition
Enforced in 1919 by a constitutional amendment. This law made it illegal to import,make, or distribute alcoholic beverages. Lasted until 21st admendment which repealed prohibition because the Government needed more jobs and money and by making alcohol legal again it created these opportunities.

Al Capone
Born in Naples, Italy 1899. Became a member of
the infamous five point gang. when Capone was in
elementary school he beat up his teacher.He
faced low paying jobs and eventually joined the
gang that was led by Johny Torrio and Lucky Luciano.
He gradually moved up as a gangster and became
manager of the alcohol for the city and then to
being the head of the chicago mafia.







Lucky Luciano
Born in Italy, 1896. At age 10 he was already
shoplifting and mugging. By age 20 he spent
six years in prison for selling heroin. Once he
got out he teamed up with some gangsters.
1920 Lucky joined Joe Masseria's, a rising crime boss.
He became Joe Marreseria's chief lieutenant but
ended up killing Joe Marreseria and was declared
the "boss of all bosses".






George Maron
Born in Minnesota, 1891. Grew up in chicago and
led numerous gangs. Committed 20 burglaries and
was sent to jail three times before he turned 21.
Eventually became leader of North side chicago.
Al Capone killed seven of Maron's men at the
"Saint Valentines Day Massacre" and was his enemy.
